WILD was formed under ministerial order to give the Lac Ste. Anne–Parkland region a single, accountable way to plan, fund, and operate potable water infrastructure across municipal and First Nation boundaries.

01 — Our Story

Why a regional commission, and not eight separate systems.

Before WILD, water security in the Lac Ste. Anne–Parkland region was handled community by community: separate wells, separate treatment, separate risk. As the region grew, so did the case for sharing infrastructure and planning water access together through common advocacy.

WILD was established under ministerial order as a regional services commission, a legal structure that allows neighbouring municipalities and First Nations to partner in the shared construction, oversight and governance of critical water transmission and supply infrasctructure.

Today, the Commission operates a system of regional transmission lines and truck fills that moves treated water from source to community, overseen by our Board of Directors. Our primary focus remains bridging the gap between sustainable and reliable water treatment facilities in the Capital Region and the independently operated local distribution systems in member communities.

02 — Our Board

One director per member, one shared mandate.

Each member municipality and First Nation appoints one director to the WILD board. Directors set policy, approve rates and budgets, and are charged with making prudent and independent decisions to the benefit of the Commission, notwithstanding any individual priorities of their originating communities.
